The Mysterious Bookshop — New York, NY · Books & Experiences · Originally reviewed 2019

The kind of bookstore you dream of finding.

QUICK TAKE: GO — ESPECIALLY IF YOU LOVE CRIME FICTION.

Rare books, intimate surroundings, knowledgeable people and the possibility that a great author conversation is happening downstairs.

I crossed Manhattan in pouring rain and sweltering humidity after the International Thriller Writers conference to hear Adrian McKinty talk with Don Winslow about THE CHAIN. It was worth every miserable subway minute.

The collection is significant without sacrificing the intimate feel of a small bookstore. Manager Thomas Wickersham was knowledgeable, friendly and encouraging — even to beginning authors.

Honestly? Nothing worth bitching about.

Yes. The original review supports the recommendation.

THE VERDICT

I am not looking for reasons to destroy somebody. I’m looking for reasons to recommend them. They just have to earn it.
